Banana Yoshimoto is a prominent contemporary Japanese author known for her unique blend of personal and cultural storytelling. Born Mahoko Yoshimoto in in Tokyo, she is the daughter of influential philosopher Takaaki Yoshimoto and the sister of cartoonist Haruno Yoiko.
